Work completed:

Wheelwright & Sons gave us a bed-sitting room in the sky. Using carefully chosen richly grained timber they constructed a new roof structure. This structure gave us full headroom at the back of the house and some of the beams became features of the room. They installed a new staircase to provide access to this space and made a feature of the railings at the entrance to the room so as to waste as little floor-space as possible - it looks very original and decorative. They ensured that the space was well-lit and installed Velux and sky lights in carefully chosen locations. They laid a wooden strip floor which gleamed in the reflected light from the windows.

Overall experience:

John Wheelwright listened carefully to our dream and worked well with the architect to design the fulfilment and get planning permission. They integrated their roof-structure, window, and stairway work well with that of the plastering, electrics, and plumbing teams. They organised the work so that the family could continue living as normally as possible and they took our safety into account at all times. It was a pleasure to have them in the house. We are very proud of the resultand it has become a much loved room for our teenage son and his friends.

Work completed:

The Wheelright team combined with a roofing and garden company to refurbished our run-down house. Together they enlarged the roof space by rebuilding the roof so it could accommosate the master bedroom suite with balcony overlooking the back garden. They re-roofed the ground floor bay window and built a second bay window where the garage was. They paved the forecourt to provide a large space for off-street parking, and they landscaped the back garden. They installed an annex at the end of the garden. They extended the kitchen and living room on the ground floor and refurbished every room.

Overall experience:

John Wheelwright understood what kind of home we wanted without any difficulty: spacious, minimalist, practical and elegant. John did all the woodwork: doors, floors, roof structure, and built-in furniture. The best materials were used throughout. The whole family loves their new home; the work is very well executed; and we have received very good value for money.
