Advice To Consumers
Set out a detailed, clear brief and request at least three quotes.
Seek references, speak to previous customers and if a reasonable sized job, visit previous jobs.
Do not just choose the cheapest quote; consider your ability to communicate with the firm and the quality of their work.
Only pay for work that has been done; do not make advance payments. If materials need to be bought in advance by the tradesmen, it is reasonable that the customer is asked to pay a fair percentage of these costs as the job progresses.
Always use a written contract, as it offers you protection if anything does go wrong.
Agree in writing any changes to the agreed contract value and ensure these are agreed in writing before the work is done.
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law and each party to these terms submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
Headings used in this agreement are for information and not binding.
This agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and us in connection with our Service.
Any failure by either party to exercise or enforce any right or provision of this agreement does not mean this is a "waiver" (i.e. that it can’t be enforced later).
If any part of this agreement is ineffective or unenforceable for any reason, then it will be replaced with a provision which as far as possible achieves the same thing and the rest of the agreement shall continue to apply.
A person who is not a party to this agreement shall have no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term of this agreement except insofar as expressly stated otherwise.
